Not much happening for a while..

Why is it when the sun is shining and the wind is calm nobody comes to the boat but when it is raining and blowing we get 12 anglers ready to do battle with the fish and the elements???

VERY PUZZLING.....

Not to mix words, fishing has been horrible since the last blow. We did not get out much since Thanksgiving and over the weekend. We did however sail Monday in the rain and was the only boat out in the afternoon. We had the entire bay to ourselves but there were no fish. There was one keeper Striper caught early and that was it.

Today we managed to get out with a handful in the afternoon and once again conditions were bad at best. Strong West wind and the moon tide made conditions uncomfortable at times but we did manage to put some fish in the bucket. We started the trip jigging for Blues and Stripers and found ourselves just east of Cherry Grove chasing birds to no avail. We had two hook ups and one snapped line with no fish making it over the rail. We then decided to anchor up on the reef and give it a go for Blackfish. Thankfully there were some fish caught and the pool was settled instead of raffled off. We had quite a number of short fish and a handful of keepers including Sal's 7 pounder.

The Wise Gnam once again took another pool with his Blackfish and said he will be back tomorrow. I will bring my earplugs...

Conditions look good for tomorrow and we have enough people coming in the afternoon to sail so take advantage while you still can. The rest of the week does not look that good and they are calling for snow on Saturday.......

We will continue to sail until Speedy gets called to drive the oil truck.

Sunday was another slow pick of monster bluefish and Stripers to 25 pounds. The morning trip saw Mike Rod and Reel and Don Fish take another pool with their Striper and Big Tony took the pool in the afternoon with his 25 pound Striper.

Monday and Tuesday we did not sail.

We will sail on Thanksgiving Day 8am-1pm by reservation only. Call Speedy or Sal.

A bit slower...

We fished both trips and the action was considerably slower than Thursday and Friday.

The morning trip did produce a slow pick of monster Blues and and a few keeper Bass. Chief Bill took the high hook in the morning with a monster 16 pound Bluefish.

The afternoon was not much better. However, a few sharpies did manage to throw over 50 Bluefish over the rail and again a few keeper Bass. We will see what tomorrow brings..........

Sorry for the delay but I did promise a few of our riders that pictures of them would be posted. I do not have the USB cord for Speedy's camera. "Whats a USB cord little buddy??" Say no more......Apologies to Jim McNichol and Frank who had two beauties up to 30 pounds on Wed.

Thursday and Friday were absolutely crazy!!

Jigging in the ocean for Blues and Bass has been producing tons of fish including 18 pound Blues and 30+ pound bass.

It is the best fishing in years!!!

Did not sail the morning trip.

In the afternoon we left with another handful for the inlet to try and put bass on the boat.

Just like yesterday it was a moderate pick with 12 shorts and 4 keepers.

The wise Gnam, who was nice enough to come back today, once again had a deuce but this time took the high hook with a Striper close to 20 pounds. He said that he will be here tomorrow. Thanks for the warning!

Drew Tattoo and Ed Drago were fortunate to get keeper sized fish as well.

We did not sail in the morning.

Left with a handful in the afternoon. The bite was definitely better than yesterday. We saw about a dozen fish and kept four to 20 pounds. Bobby the wise Gnam had a deuce while newcomers Eric and Chang had two beauties with Eric taking top honors with close to a 20 pound keeper.

Slow Bite...

We did not sail Thursday, Friday & Saturday due to weather.

Whether or not we should have sailed today is up for debate....

It was an extremely slow pick of of a few short stripers in the morning with only a couple keepers. The afternoon showed a little bit of life in the beginning but for the most part we flat lined the whole afternoon.

John and Greg were fortunate enough to get 2 decent fish into the boat with Greg's fish taking the high hook at 11 pounds.

Speedy feels the ocean will be productive as it settles over the next couple days and anticipates bottom fishing starting Tue. or Wed. or depending on how many people get on the boat...???

Ted was kind enough to grace us with his presence today but he was tangled up most of the day and was asked to sit in the cabin for the rest of the trip...

Striper Time!!

We were fortunate to carry over 20 people in the afternoon. Unfortunately, less than half were "real" anglers. If they were, I am confident the action would have been even better!!!

We threw over 30 shorts over the rail and kept 10 fish up to 18 pounds. Henry from the Jib, the sharpies that rode with us from the Fishfinder as well as Adam were fighting fish all afternoon. Adam hooked up into the big one and took the pool. Now if Adam was catching Stripers, the fish must have really been stacked up under the boat.

All and all a very good afternoon.

Did not sail in the morning.

We sailed in the afternoon with only 7 people but Speedy decided to go to the reef regardless of the light crowd. For his efforts he was rewarded with once again dynamite action!!

We anchored on 3 pieces today and with the light crowd the dogs were not really a nuisance. 7 anglers 100 keeper Sea Bass. Newcomers Adrienne and Lily had the pool fish, a 4 pounder. No keeper Blackfish caught today but we did have many shorts. Norman, Patty and Georgio had no problem filling their buckets as well.

Fishing was definitely better than yesterday and Speedy expects it to get better as the temperature moderates.

Did not sail in the morning.

The afternoon saw 27 fares sail to the reef. At least the weather was nice.......The trend is continuing downward from subsequent trips. The trip did produce some keeper Sea Bass and Blackfish but for the number of people on board the keeper ratio is definitely down.

When you were able to find a piece of structure that the dogs didnt kill you there was a slow pick of keeper Sea Bass and Blackfish. Tons of short action today but not many fish hit the filet board.

The skilled anglers did manage to find structure that produced fish like Oscar who killed 3 very nice keeper Blackfish and Bob M. who had 2 including the 5 pound pool winner.

Tomorrow the weather is expected to be nice once again. Perhaps the fishing will be as well...

The morning bite was definitely better than the afternoon. Large amounts of Sea Bass and those anglers using crab were rewarded with the Blacks. Joe D. took the pool in the morning with a 5 pound Blackfish. Although both trips produced very nice quantities of keeper Sea Bass and Blackfish the bite was definitely off from the prior trips earlier in the week.

The afternoon got ugly when nearly 100 dogfish hit the deck......Say no more....
Those who had the patience and the ability to walk around the deck had fish. The high hook for the afternoon goes to Drew Tattoo who had the whistle fish a 6 pound Blackfish.
Special thanks to the group from NE Ambulette for making the afternoon a perfect trip!!

The weather looks good over the next couple of days and Capt. Speedy expects the bite to continue as the ocean settles.

Reef really heating up!!!

We sailed both trips today!!
Both trips produced tons of Sea Bass and Blackfish!!
The weather is getting colder but the fishing is really heating up!
The morning trip had over 250 Sea Bass and over 20 Blackfish. Craig S. was the high hook in the morning with an 8 pound Blacky.

The afternoon trip was even better with many anglers once again getting close to or limiting out on Sea Bass. The Blackfish bite was consistent with the morning but produced 5 very nice ones including Josh A.'s 91/2 pounder.

The boat will definitely sail tomorrow for Sea Bass and Blackfish.

Did not sail in the morning.

The afternoon trip went with a handful of people so we Striper fished in the inlet. Everyone on the boat left with a fish. There was a tremendous amount of short action with plenty of keepers in the mix. Today we had 40 fish up to 30".

Saturday and Sunday we will be wreck fishing!!!!

Captain and crew are extremely excited due to the success of the the past 2 bottom trips and expect an awesome weekend on the reef.

Come and get em while the gettings good!!!

When we have 10 people or more we will be bottom fishing for Sea Bass and Blackfish. When the water is rough or we sail with less than 10 we Striper fish in the inlet.

Thankfully we have been bottom fishing the past 2 days and with much success!!! Yesterdays trip saw over 500 Sea Bass to 51/2 pounds and 25 Balckfish to 8 pounds.

Today's trip was absolutely crazy!! Many anglers reached their limit on Sea Bass and the pool winner was a beautiful 10 pound Blackfish caught by boat regular Rodent.

The Tuna trip is cancelled for this weekend.

Sunday afternoons trip already has enough people to bottom fish due to a reservation so come on down and take part in the action while you still can!

The boat sailed Saturday morning for Stripers and the action was slow until the last hour of the trip where the rods kept bending and the fish started chewing their heads off! Dennis Billig who was our Fluke Derby winner this year had 2 keepers and the pool fish a very respectable 20 pounder.

The morning bite was spectacular!! Ask Brian from the Capt. Lou fleet who had 5 keeper sized bass and a 22 pound pool winner.

Expectations were high for the afternoon but were quickly diminished as the trip went on and on and on and on and on with no action until Timmy Fitz managed to pick up a short and we had a couple of run offs as the tide turned around. All in all nothing to write home about.

We will try one more time for Tuna!!!!!!!!!

Trip date is Friday November 6th to Saturday the 7th. The make up date will be Saturday the 7th into the 8th.

As predicted fishing improved dramatically today. (could not of been any worse than yesterday) The boat did manage to sail in the afternoon for Stripers and once again beat up on them. There were some larger fish in the mix including a 29 lb. pool winner by........you guessed it.......Clarence. The fish just about ripped him right off the 10 gallon buckets he uses as a makeshift stool in the stern. Other notable catches includes Sam's 24 pounder (who spit the hook right at the boat but with some fancy net work by Paul the fish landed safely in the ice box) as well as Sal's 22 pounder on light jigging tackle from his perch on top of the stairs. The boat will sail for Blackfish when customer turnout is better than its been. If a light crowd is present the boat will fish for Stripers. Come prepared for both.

The only thing the boat caught today was air while anchored on the bar. (ask Sal)

For those of you who stayed home today instead of going fishing with us I salute you. I wish I was on the couch right next to you enjoying the warmth and the television. For lack of a better term, Fishing sucked today.

Today broke our winning streak with the linesiders.

The morning trip produced a whopping 3 stripers only one of which was a keeper.

The afternoon saw worse action with only one run off and no fish brought to the boat. Not even Clarence could find the one Striper to bring home for dinner. "Thats why its Fishing not catching, boys" thanks Speedy

The current or lack there of played games with us all day. It made it very difficult to get the clams into the strike zone.

We do expect conditions to improve as the week progresses and tidal conditions are more favorable.

As a reminder the boat will begin Cod fishing after Election Day & we are planning our first Ocean Bluefish trip this Friday the 30th 7pm - whenever......

Long time no sail.

The weather and lack of people makes getting out of the berth difficult these days. However, when the boat does go the fishing has been great!! The day bite has been very consistent
with a very slow night bite. The morning trips have usually been for stripers and the afternoons have been dedicated to ocean wreck fishing. For those who have heard that you cant catch Striped bass on an aluminum boat are sadly mistaken. The action has been better than good with an average of 12 keeper fish per trip over the past few days. The Blackfishing and inshore Sea Bass bite has been doing well also. Todays trip produced over 20 blacks and buckets of Sea Bass for the 20 people we carried in the afternoon. Hats off to Clarence who can hardly hear, hardly see and hardly walk who today had his limit on Blacks and the pool!! Once again!

The offshore trips for Tuna have been washed out yet again,

We are organizing Ocean Bluefish trips over the next few weeks. You can say anyhting you want but Speedy knows how to Bluefish and knows where the big boys are hanging right now.

The trips will run 7pm- whenever and we will look to get them going Thurs &Fri nights the 29th & 30th.

"You cant fight Mother Nature boys" We hear you Speedy. Unfortunately the past few Tuna trips have been cancelled due to poor weather conditions. In fact, the boat hardly left the dock over the past week and a half.

Thankfully the boat did sail over the past couple of days and those anglers looking to take advantage of what the reef has to offer were rewarded with unbelievable action.

We are hoping that this is an indication of where the rest of the season is heading. Every trip produced large numbers of keeper Sea Bass and Porgies and the Blackfish bite is pretty good as well.

Today was outstanding!!! We saw over 300 Sea Bass a very nice showing of Porgies and Blackfish up to 6 lbs. Hats off to Joe D. who landed a double header of 4 lb plus Porgies in addition to his Albacore and couple dozen Bluefish he killed on the morning trip. In fact we had a true mixed bag catching Albacore, Blackfish, Bluefish, Striped Bass, Weakfish, Kingfish, Sea Bass and Porgies. Wow!

There is still room on the Tuna trips scheduled for Oct 10th and 11th.

The ocean was like a lake. The customers were awesome. The fishing was better than bad but less than Super. Compared to last years bite the trip was a complete success! Capt. JoJo believes the best fishing is yet to come
and is already planning his plan of attack for next weekends trip.

As usual, JoJo was relentless on his quest for the almighty Tuna. From the Hudson to the Mud Hole nobody fished harder than him.

The boat did have a small pick of Yellows and Bluefin Tuna as well as many Mahi Mahi as you wanted ranging from 12 to 30+ lbs. High Hooks go to Junior and Sean Lamberson who nailed Mahis in the 30 lb range and the ever so patient Randy who worked all trip for his 70 pound Bluefin and his his 30 lb Yellow.

Special thanks to Joanne who runs the galley and who " Had the best time of her life" as well as the boys on deck Josh, Brian, Sal & Chris.

The inshore action is definately improving as yesterday and today the boat did observe a significant jump in the keeper ratio for the Sea Bass. Still many small guys around but a new body of fish have definately moved in and there were many nice sized Sea Bass for the anglers to enjoy.

Many keeper size Blackfish have been coming up and released. Hopefully a good indication for October.

Tuesday afternoon the bite picked up and we saw Jumbo Porgies and buckets of Sea Bass. It was a refreshing change and every angler on the boat had fish to bring home. The fishing was not savage but the Porgies hit very well with many more keepers than shorties. Sea Bassing still requires a bit of patience to work through the small ones but the rods were bending all afternoon.

The boat did not sail today Wed. the 16th.

Saturdays Tuna trip is filled to capacity and is set to sail between 6 and 6:30 pm.

Tough conditions.....

The boat did not sail for Tuna as scheduled on Sunday Sept. 13th due to the lack of response. In fact the boat did not sail from Tuesday the 8th until Saturday the 12th. Speedy, not satisfied with the way the boat was performing took advantage of the miserable weather this past week and with the help of Rich ( the most patient man in the world) the Speedy Express was up and running by Saturday.

The boat may have been repaired but the fishing was broken. Dirty anchor lines, strong currents and lack of keeper size fish best describes the action for Sat., Sun, and Monday. The boat did not sail Tuesday morning the 15th.

There were some highlights like the 4 1/2 pound porgie that took the pool on Monday , the 4 pound Sea Bass by boat regular Clarence and the large number of Blackfish caught and released as well.

Speedy feels the conditions will once again begin to improve as the Ocean settles over the next couple days.

The Tuna trip for Saturday the 19th into the 20th is sold out!!!

The Sunday Monday trip the 27th to the 28th is starting to book as well.

Once Again!

The boat sailed both trips and fortunately both produced fish.

The action is non stop as every drop holds huge amounts of Porgies and Sea Bass. You do have to work through quite a few of the little guys but there are definitely plenty of keepers mixed in.

Paul had a beautiful 4 pounder in the morning and Adam had one close to 5 lbs. in the afternoon.

Boat newcomers Tomasz and Michael Karasinski on vacation from Canada sailed yesterday afternoon and the afternoon trip today as well. Young Mike definitely mastered the art of sinker bouncing as he was able to nail a 3 pound Sea Bass yesterday and had a bucket full of keepers today as well.

Carmine and Sonny had no problem getting their fill as their buckets were filled with some nice Sea Bass also.

Ted went to the hardware store for Speedy on Wednesday and hasn't been seen since.

Back and better than ever!

With our long range Tuna trips getting closer, Capt. Speedy did some last minute preparations to the boat earlier in the week. On Wed. at 11:30 am the boat was launched and Speedy raced to the dock where he had over 25 anglers waiting patiently for his arrival. With that in mind Speedy put the throttle down and was pushing 26 knots at 85% load. WOW!!! Needless to say he was able to get to Captree from Sayville in record timing.

Those who waited were rewarded with awesome action with tons of Porgies and Sea Bass thrown over the rail. In fact the boat saw over 300 Porgies and 150 Sea Bass in the buckets.

Thursday Afternoon was even better with dinner plate sized Porgies to 3 1/2 lbs. and quite a few of the big Sea Bass to 4 1/2 lbs. More Porgies than Sea Bass. A few Triggers were caught as well.

We did not sail Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning. We probably shouldn't have sailed Sunday afternoon, but we did and stayed in the bay where we saw 6 fares catch a bunch of little Sea Bass and only 3 keeper Porgies. The fishing will get better as the Ocean once settles.

Monday the boat went to the yard for repairs and is expected back at the dock sometime Wed. afternoon. To see if we are sailing Wed. call Sal @ 631-255-7280

REEF PRODUCING TONS OF FISH!

The boat did sail both trips today and both trips produced huge numbers of Sea Bass and Porgies!

The morning trip saw over 350 Sea Bass and 200 Porgies. The keeper ratio is low but Speedy gives you so much fishing time that you are able to pick through the little guys and fill your bucket.

Capt. Paul had an all time best catching his limit of Porgies inside of 15 minutes of fishing!!

The Afternoon trip saw even better action with with Jumbo Porgies to 4 lbs and many more keeper Sea Bass to 4 1/2 lbs. The rods were bent all afternoon and well over 600 fish came over the rail. Again the keeper ratio was low but the extra 1/2 hour Speedy gives you in the afternoon gave many anglers the oppurtunity to get their fair share of keepers.

SEA BASS!!

We switched to ocean bottom fishing today. The boat did not sail in the morning but did set out to the reef in the afternoon with 30 eager anglers. Speedy made record time getting to the reef in under 40 minutes making sure that everyone had plenty of fishing time to beat up on the black beauties. The bite was on!! We saw 30 anglers throw over 300 Sea Bass to 4 1/2 lbs. over the rail! Porgies made a showing and those well versed in the art of sinker bouncing had no problem getting their limit.

The night action remains consistent with 10 - 13 lb. bluefish dominating the action. With light tackle fishing for these monsters becomes very interesting.

Short and Sweet!!

The "Boys" Carmine Spinelli and Sonny Angelico as usual beat up on the big ones. Carmine had 2 to 5+ lbs and Sonny had a nice 4.78 pounder.

The pool winner was Karen Santino witha 6.55 pound Fluke.

We will not be buying the permit to extend our Fluking Season. The action is incredible so come aboard while the season is still open.

The night bite exploded yesterday with a more experienced crowd throwing 5o Big Blues over the rails to 13 lbs.

Once again the Speedy Express continues to beat up on the summer flatties. Today we saw 30 keepers to 7.6 lbs.

In the morning Ed Drago had two beauties a pool winning 7.6 lb fish and a 5.7 pounder as well.

The afternoons action was even better as many anglers had their limits. Tom Walsh had his to 4.5 lbs and so did Marvin Kaplan up to 4.7 lbs.

The high hook goes to boat regular Lucky who took his second pool in under a week with a nice 6 pounder.

Yesterday night the boys ran into some gorilla blues in the 10 - 12 lb range and managed to kill about 20 of those bad boys on light tackle. We lost about double that amount at the boat with straightened hooks and snapped lines. The action was amazing.

The word is getting out about the 90 - 100ft mark as we have noticed more and more boats appear in the area. Speedy is the only half day boat capable of making the run and give the customers ample time to slay the doormats.

Sonny Angelico and Frank Taylor took the dock pool in the past week!! Good job guys.

Sloppy conditions yesterday and today. 16 oz sinkers barely holding. The weather looks to improve over the next few days so will the conditions.

A wise Gnam told me that the full moon in August would produce Fluke. He was right!! The past week has seen many large fish come over the rails. In fact every trip is producing fish up to 8 lbs. The exception came today August 10th in the morning we saw none. The afternoon trip however produced 20 keepers including a very impressive 9 pounder caught by Frank Taylor (not eligible for the Fluke Derby).
The Fluke Derby standings are as follows:

The Derby will close August 17th. The boat will begin to sail for Sea Bass starting the 18th.

The night fishing has been amazing with Capt. Joe & Capt. Chris continuously putting the customers on the fish. They have consistently out fished the fleet with tons of Bluefish and plenty of Weakfish in the mix as well.

The boat did sail both trips today and was rewarded with outstanding action!! Collectively the boat had well over 300 Fluke for the day with 11 keepers in the mix. Everyone was quite pleased with action that the ocean produced especially the Feldman brothers Dan & Jay who had there limit and the pool winner in the afternoon. Way to go guys!

Considering the Fluke bite is heating up & the short amount of time it takes Speedy to get to the fishing grounds ......There is no excuse! Come Aboard!

As a reminder The Super Speedy Express II will be sailing for Sea Bass starting August 18th.

The Schedule is as follows:

7am-11am Adult $40 , Senior $38 , Children 12 and under $25

Sloppy conditions and so so fishing best describes the past week. Fishing in the bay produces many short Fluke and tons of Sea Robins. The Ocean is not producing very much more except an occasional Sea Bass caught drifting around the reef. Despite the conditions and regulations we did manage to throw some keepers over the rail and there have been changes made to the standings in the Fluke Derby.

Apologies for the lack of reports but the fishing has been terrible up until last week. Capt Speedy has been able to locate a body of Fluke far east out of the distance from the other boats in the fleet. On Monday July 20 we saw 10 keepers come over the rail including a 6.8 pounder by Junior and a 5.8 pounder by Clarence. Needless to say there has been some changes to the FLUKE Derby which will continue to August 17th. On the night front the fishing has been absolutely savage. Again not daunted by distance or time the Speedy Express is the only boat capable of making the run for the big choppers. Sunday July 19th we saw over 200 blues come over the rails up to 15 lbs. many of the boats were able to participate in Sundays action but Monday the fish moved further east and the Speedy Express was fishing all by itself seeing 25 anglers bring over 200 fish over the rail. Saturday & Sunday June 27 & 28

Apologies for the lack of reports but the weather has been absolutely dreadful.

The planets must have been aligned on Saturday & Sunday as our long lost friend the Sun decided to come out and pay us a visit. Thankfully the fish cooperated as well.

Can you say Porgie?? The size of the Porgies being caught is absolutely unbelievable. The catch of the week definitely goes to boat regular Shug who landed a monster 5 pounder!!

The Reef continues to hold large amounts of fish. This weekend we saw large amounts of keeper Sea Bass, JUMBO Montauk sized Porgies up to 5 lbs., Stripers, Ling and even an occasional Cod! Every angler on every trip walks away with something in there bucket.

Every trip is producing fish. The porgies have been biting better in the morning and late afternoon. They are stacked so thick that many anglers have no problem reaching there limit.

The word must be getting out about this as each trip is starting to hold more and more people. We recommend getting to the boat early to ensure you get the spot you want.

Saturday June 13th

The weather cooperated with us on Saturday. Finally! The conditions were beatuiful and 30 anglers set out towards the FI reef aboard the Super Speedy Express. The morning bite was spotty at best but the fishing got better towards the afternoon. Many anglers were pleasently surprised with the mixed bag action on the deck. We saw over 500 sea bass to 3.5 lbs. buckets of baseball bat sized ling, monster porgies and a pool winning cod fish caught by boat regular Fred. For those versed in the art of sinker bouncing fish are plentiful.

Ted spent most of the day napping. Apparently beat up and exhausted from the 5 keepers he manged to fool on Saturday.

Sunday

The boat did manage to sail with approximately 20 people. The action although consistent was definately off from Saturday. Those anglers who know how to bottom fish are still walking away with full buckets. Skilled anglers welcome!! Amidst the tangles and snags there was still some nice fish brought to the boat.

Once again the Super Speedy Express continues to beat up on the Sea Bass!
Twenty anglers, 400 fish and beautiful weather best describes the day. Boat regulars Peter, Joe and Fred all had their fill to 3.5 lbs. and newcomers Doreen Lleras & Angelo Grippo had similar catches along with a very respectable 15 lb. Bluefish who clobbered a Sea Bass being brought up from the reef.
The high hook of the day goes to the Iadevaia family who walked off the boat with their limit and the pool fish a massive 5.2 pounder!
Nine year old Christopher Walis aka "The Sea Bass King" had a banner day with a full bucket and three double headers. Way to go!
....Ted's slump continues as he struggled to get three fish in his bucket today :(

The elements did not cooperate very well with the fleet during the week. However, there was some changes in the Fluke Derby. Bob Gnam brought a 5.46 pounder to the scale and took over 3rd place on the leader board.

On Saturday June 6th,the weather was beautiful and the Super Speedy Express made it's first official full day ocean bottom trip. The word of the day was Sea Bass! The fishing was outstanding! 14 anglers managed to throw over 300 Sea Bass over the rail. John Cabrera's 4.3 pounder had the pool while Carmen Arroyo & Sal Rosa had their limit up to 3.5 lbs. Angler Richard Baake had a very nice day with a bucket full of Sea Bass and a very nice 25 lb. Striper. Ted as usual caught nothing, but he didn't get tangled with anyone all day.

It has been an exciting couple of weeks for the Fluke Derby aboard the Super Speedy Express. Amidst the many throwbacks, there has been some nice fish hitting the leader board.
Ed Santino took over first place with a Fluke weighing 7.62 pounds caught on the 23rd. R. Adam grabbed second place three days later throwing a 7.60 pound fish over the rail. William Giangrando, Frank Silvera & Peter Marson make up 3rd, 4th & 5th place all with a 5.26 pound Fluke. 6th place belongs to Jeff Mertz with a 4.78 pound fish.

The Bluefishing continues to be unbelievable! On Saturday May 30th the morning trip saw over 200 fish come over the rail. Josh A. had over 30 in one drift! The night trips have been equally as rewarding with many to all anglers catching there limit.
The Fluke Derby is still any ones game! The Fluke season is short. Make everyday count!

Friday, May 15th 2009- The Speedy Express started it's 2009 Fluke season today. The morning trip saw 5 fares catch 90 Fluke up to 4.5lbs. Fred had the pool winner in the AM to kick off our 2009 Fluke Derby. Potentially one of the largest Fluke derbys at the dock. We know the season is short so make everyday count!!! While the rest of the fleet decided to use their RSA Fluke permit the Speedy continued Flounder fishing and had a banner week. Wednesday's PM trip saw 8 fares catch 62 flounder, keeping everyone. Saturday and Sunday, March 7th and 8th- The Speedy sailed both days this past weekend which was a beautiful one at that. Saturdays trip saw 12 fares catch a dozen keeper Cod throwing back about the same. Some Ling, Congers and Bergals also were in the mix. Sundays trip saw 10 fares catch 9 keeper Cod throwing back few as well. The boat will be sailing this upcoming weekend both Saturday and Sunday at 7AM for a full day trip. Saturday- January 10th- Cod Pollack and Sea Bass- Well the weather was beautiful on Saturday considering the forecast for the snow that never came. The forecast scared alot of people away and we ended up only sailing with 11 people. Because of the light crowd we shortened the trip and made it a 6AM-4PM trip and fished some of the 20 mile wrecks. Pretty disappointing considering the weather the last couple weeks kept alot of boats tied up. We made 4 drops and only managed a pick at the Ling, a ton of Congers, a few Blackfish, and quite a few of the Doggys. Thought some fish might have moved in to some of these wrecks but not the case. Hopefully our next trip will be more productive and we can make it back out to some of the offshore wrecks (30-50 miles). Our next scheduled trip is Saturday January 17th leaving at 6AM. Friday- December 26th- 6AM Cod, Pollack, and Sea Bass- The Speedy sailed today on it's offshore trip. The weather was beautiful with winds of 10-15 knts and seas 2-4 ft. The boat ended up with approx. 20 Cod, a few Pollack, Some nice Sea Bass and a pile of Ling. The pool fish was a beautiful Cod of 42lbs. The Speedy will also sail Saturday December 27th at 6AM. Saturday- December 6th- Cod, Pollack, and Sea Bass- Saturdays offshore trip couldn't have been any nicer. West winds 10 knots with seas running 1-2 ft. The fishing wasn't as good as last week, we had alot of current and I think that had something to do with the slow bite, but we did see some real nice fish come over the rail. We ended up catching 11 Cod up to 31 lbs, 4 Pollack up to 26 lbs, and a mess of Sea Bass, Ling, and some of the other bottom dwellers. Some of the big fish included Ron Parietti's pool winning 31 lb. Cod along with 2 others and some nice Sea Bass. Sal Aniano took 2nd place in the pool with his 26lb Pollack and a mess of Ling and some Sea Bass. This was Sal's 15th pool of the season, wow way to go. Our next trip will be this coming Saturday, December 13th and we will leave at 6AM. Saturday November 29th- Cod, Pollack, and Sea Bass- We sailed at 5AM for our offshore wreck trip. The weather was much nicer than our Friday trip with NW winds 10-15 kts and seas running 2-4 ft. Fishing was also pretty good. The boat saw 41 fares catch 50-55 Cod, 6 Pollack, and a mess of nice Sea Bass, Ling, and some Blues mixed in as well. Some of the big fish included Joey D's 42lb Pool winning Cod, 2nd place was taken with a 38lb Cod, While Thomas Manzari drilled two Pollack on jigs with the biggest tipping the scales at 35lbs. There were 3 other Cod caught over 30 lbs with a few others in the 20 lb range. The largest Sea Bass of the day weighed in at 7 lbs with several others being over 5 lbs. Some beautiful fish came over the rail on our first 2 offshore trips and we look forward to continuing these trips right through December and into January. Friday November 28th- 5AM Cod, Pollack, and Sea Bass- We sailed at 5AM on our first offshore wreck trip of the winter. The weather was nasty with 20-25kt winds out of the south, and seas running 6-8 ft. We fished in 170ft of water. Fishing was decent considering the conditions. The boat saw 22 anglers catch between 25-30 Cod with several of them being over 20lbs, 4 Pollack, about 50 Big Sea Bass over 5lbs with several being over 6lbs and the biggest being 7.5lbs, and a mess of ling. Some of the big fish included Rich Gasparik's pool winning 41lb Cod, Arthur Bullock's 2nd place 39lb Cod, and Shane Brown's 35lb Cod. Don Baldwin drilled several nice Sea Bass with 3 of them being over 6lbs and 2 nice Cod. Tara O'neil also nailed a beautiful Sea Bass of 7lbs. Sal Aniano had 3 Cod with the biggest around 15lbs and a few of the giant knuckle head Sea Bass. Way to go everyone, we look forward to seeing you again soon!

Tuesday and Wednesday November 18th and 19th- The boat did not sail Tuesday or Wednesday due to the high winds and cold temperatures. We are hoping to be able to sail again tomorrow, Thursday November 20th, as the weather looks to be alot nicer and milder. Remember we are starting our winter Cod, Pollack, and Sea Bass trips starting Friday November 28th sailing at 5AM. Monday November 17th- The 12-5pm trip saw 13 fares catch close to 50 bass keeping 4 of them to 32lbs. Ed Santino caught the pool winner topping the scales at 32lbs, Clarence Butler had the second biggest of 28lbs followed by Bobby Gnam with an 18 pounder.

Sunday November 16th- The 7-11am trip saw 6 fares haul over 30 stripers over the rail keeping 3 of them to 16lbs. Our 12-5pm trip saw 7 fares catch 40 bass keeping 4 of them to 18lbs. Sal Aniano and Tom stayed on both trips and both caught over 20 bass each keeping their limit. What a day despite the evil conditions.

Saturday November 15th- The 7-11am trip saw 6 fares catch 35 stripers keeping 6 of them. The largest fish weighed 18lbs. We did not sail the 12-5pm trip due to the weather.
